I do wish you people would consult with one another before taking breaks. First Domino, then Absolutely Beautiful Things, now this. What am I supposed to do all day? My job? Take care of the children? Clean the house... ...or read back from the beginning. That sounds better.
Here's what is so maddening about the comment moderation. You put a post up that begs for a lively debate (actually....you kinda begged for people to come out and pounce on the guy who took you to task for posting something so lowly as chipped furniture). The weirdos come out to play. It gets nasty and you pull the plug and decide to wield your power by put up comment moderation. Come on decorno! Yah didn't think it might get a little crazy??? It's a little annoying that you keep going back and forth. Look...if it gets nasty why not just pull the post? Why slap everyones hand for the actions of a few? I think you secretly want the freak show myself. I have said it before, your readers are smart enough to weed through the riff raff.
When you come back, can we discuss the last issue of Domino? It's painfully thin. Here's what I'll be trashing: Nina Campbell's house of reflective, shiny surfaces. ugh! Love the other homes though.
Don't you dare get your feelings even mildly dinged by anon's on here. They lurk on every blog and even on our town website..waiting to snipe mean comments. I would either completely ignore or just delete them as they come.
Anon 9:34. You have a lot of time on your hands by trying to read so much into things. Here's the deal:
1) I had to bowdlerize the posts and even remove some because I needed to show this blog to someone at work for a project. And as I am sure you are old enough to imagine, you wouldn't want your management to see you hosting some kind of ridiculous cat fight on the web.
2) While I appreciate everyone coming out to play, I don't really owe you fuckers* anything. Seriously, I write this damn blog nearly EVERY DAY for FREE. When you start to each pay me $5 a month via pay pal, I will gladly never moderate and will never take down a post. But until I actually get paid by you guys, I don't really care if if bugs you how I edit or moderate.
(*I say fuckers with love. I do.)
3) Sometimes I take a break from blogging. I have a real life and a real (stressful) job. So when I do, the last stress I need is to think that some kind of cat fight is breaking out on my blog without me there to keep the house in order. I realize this seems paternalistic, but have you ever read the comments on Perez Hilton? If so, you will understand why I occasionally moderate. I don't want things to devolve into a weird dustups that make me personally embarrassed to be hosting on my turf.
#2 made me laugh out loud and confirm my reasons for reading your blog. It's also why I keep my blog on lockdown. I mean, if people are crazy enough to lose their shit on a design blog then there is NO way that I'm going to subject myself to the poop flinging that would ensue upon my posting about the mutton dressed as lamb that parades through my little corner of suburban cowflop.
I was actually kind of hoping that you had gone to Mardi Gras and gotten thrown in the drunk tank for peeing off of a New Orleans balcony onto one of the floats. You know that some of us fuckers would pay cash money for your "Designers Gone Wild" series.

Enjoy. Sometimes it's more than needed. It's a necessity.
Thanks for the warning. I fret when you are gone.

Just be careful out there. No drinking and decoundering, young lady.
alas, parting is such sweet sorrow.
However, I'm learning just how much work a blog can be to maintain. Hope your vacation is a good one.
Are you there yet? :)

Cheers,
Karen O.
Enjoy, but hurry back you will be missed!
